Why won’t my mom let me use a tampon?

I was talking to my mom about tampons; i just started my period and i was talkin to her and i said all my friends use them and stuff and she said; thats inapropriate little girls shouldn’t be using those, and she said, thats innapropriate for something to go up your hole! now im fustrated cuz now i know i will be stuck with pads! What do I do?Ask your friends about giving you one and tell you how to use it. If your mom finds out tell her that it’s unfair for you to have to deal with your period being messy and having to sit in your period and feel like a diaper and not being able to do sports and stuff.
Tell your mom you started your period so you aren’t a "little girl" and it should be your decision on what you use for protection. Your period is a sign of womanhood. You should be able to decide what hygene products you use. Your mom is seriously overreacting and doesn’t like you growing up. It’s your period and you should decide how you want to deal with it. It’s a personal decision.
OR- you could join the swim team or have your friends invite you to go swimming and then your period comes up. OR (another idea) you could tell her that people say that you smell bad when you’re on your period and it’s embarassing. But then she might just get you scented pads.

Tampons don’t make you lose your virginity. You can only lose that by having sex. Tampons and sex are completely different!! Trust me. I thought the same thing and I read in two websites that tampons don’t make you not a virgin only sex. TSS is also extremely extremely rare and only happens when people leave in huge super maxi plus tampons for days. But people have accidentally left them in for days and nothing has happened to them so…

i used pads for 11 years (i started my period when i was 10). i just did not like the thought of being disvirgined my a tampon (silly…i know)

plus the tampons have more risks than the pad, toxic shock syndrome (i think that’s what it is) can lead to death and that is caused by tampon use.

just do some research about it and so that when you ask again you really know what you’re talking about, she may be worried about tss also thats something you should look up too
good luck, my mom lets me use them now, I’m 13well you should start out with pads and when you get a little older try asking her again. tampons are great but pads are a lot safer.
