Winter temperatures drop significantly below normal and wind invasion can bring a series of changes in the skin. Skin capillaries contract to prevent skin from cooling and corresponding reduction in skin moisture and sebum. Skin metabolism slow down. Thus, we should take notice of skin care in winter. Especially dry skin, special attention must be paid. The most important for winter skin care is to prevent from cold stimulation to the skin and enhance the skin’ s ability to keep out the cold.
(1) Use weak acidic facial cleanser and washing in cold water. You are advised to wash your face before take a shower. Water vapor inside the bathroom can enlarge skin pores. Dust on face settles on skin. Wash face in cold water can make skin to become more resistant to cold and reduce loss of sebum. It is because hot water washes out acidic protective film on your skin’s surface and reduces skin elasticity and luster. It also weakens disinfection property.
(2) Use acidic cleansing tonic can inhibit sebum and sweat secretion and maintain normal acidity degree of the skin (Ph) and integrity of the natural protective skin layer. It prevents from the bacteria invasion.
(3) Keep up appropriate outdoor activities and physical exercise routine. Aerobic exercise is recommended. Because UV in sunlight can accelerate the skin blood circulation and promote calcium metabolism. The function of the cardiovascular system is reinforced. Skin become ruddy and shiny. Skin temperature is increased and skin elasticity is enhanced. So there is a reason why someone says that exercise is skin beauticians.
(4) Proper use of skin cream, emulsion can replenish depleted nutrition your skin need. Oil-based cream can be chosen. This is conducive to maintain skin temperature. To prevent excessive evaporation of water which can make skin dry, wrinkled and split. Persist in applying it after washing hand and every morning and evening.
(5) Skin massage is good for skin protection against cold with special effects. Insist on facial and hand massage two or three times per day can accelerate the skin blood circulation and restore skin elasticity. It helps to reduce skin nerve fatigue.
